I have caught Barbel on Severn at Tewkesbury on Cheese and Sweetcorn. They seem to take just about anything - patience is also key when trying other baits. Luncheon Meat tends to produce the best results, but having said that I fish it more than the other baits.

its true the barbel is one of the most exciting fish to catch and i didnt know that you could get them with cheese and sweetcorn. ill have to try it sometime.
